Black Kitchen Sink? Go for It!
Half way, my friends! It’s been quite the process but the kitchen is well on its way to a fresh new look. So far, there’s been some demolition, shelf preparation, and new white quartz countertops. If you’ve been following along with this project, you might’ve caught the sneak peek to the new black kitchen sink last week! Well, it’s one of my absolute favorite elements in this space so I wanted to share more details with you. I know a dark sink can feel kind of risky so hopefully this update brings you on over to Team Black Sink!

Black Kitchen Sink Installation
The previous sink was your run of the mill white enamel overmount sink. It was improperly installed and a pain to clean so we salvaged it during demo and donated it.
This project has been all about neutral colors and a mix of elements. Because I went with white countertops, I wanted some contrast and after careful consideration, I went with the Blanco Silgranit Undermount Sink in Cinder (which is technically more of a really dark gray. They do have an actual true black, called Anthracite – I was so tempted but love this actual color so much)
I chose the largest sink that would fit in this cabinet base which was 18″ x 30″ and opted for the single bowl since I feel it functions better for me (easier to fit all my plants in here and water them!). And, I love undermount sinks for the clean, crisp look they offer – plus, it’s so much easier to just brush crumbs from counter into the sink!
The previous owners (I purchased this home in the fall) had upgraded the faucet already, so I decided to keep it! One thing about purchasing a sink is you’ll likely need to buy a drain and other accessories. This is the sink flange I purchased (black matte) and was able to attach to the existing garbage disposal.
I’m so happy with the contrast and fresh look of this black kitchen sink, what do you think?
Kitchen Update To-Do List
Demolish the current tiled counter tops & back splashRemove some of the upper cabinetsReplace counter tops with Silestone Consentino in Et Statuario in Suede finishReplace sink with Blanco Silgranit in Cinder (this will be my second Blanco sink, I just love them!)- Paint cabinet bases and replace cabinet doors & drawer fronts (I’m using Iron Ore)
Update kitchen stove with Kitchen Aid Gas Stove- Install tile back splash and entire wall (I haven’t decided yet, but this previous backsplash tile post has some good white tile options!)
- Make oak shelves for floating shelving with Black Brackets (p.s. this is my brother’s bracket business and I work with him there!)
- Replace light above sink with cute pendant light – I’m undecided but this one is a good option!
- Style with plants and new artwork. Many of my functional kitchen decor items are from Amazon – lots of hidden gems!
