Moving to the Country! Our Daylight Ranch Remodel

I’m so excited to finally share that we have the keys to the new house! It’s official (I’m always a little nervous to celebrate too soon). But, we did it! We traded in our trusty suburban home for a daylight ranch on 3 acres. We’ve got a view, some room to roam, a chicken coop, and a sturdy – yet quirky – house that we are remodeling all the way down to the studs. I’ve waited years for this moment, somebody pinch me!

Daylight Ranch Remodel

Not only am I excited for this new chapter in our lives, I’m also really enjoying the renovation process. We’re taking on most of it ourselves, along with my brother’s help and expertise, and have fully demo’d out the main level. You might have seen some of my progress pics on Instagram, but I’ll be sharing more, along with all the design details, here along the way!

Of all the rooms, I’m really looking forward to the kitchen. What was previously dark and closed off, will soon be light and bright. Just wait until you see the before photos! I do have the cabinets & countertops ordered, I’ll be sharing those soon and I’ve already planned for these brass semi-flush mount lights and this black hardware. It’s a small space but I’ve got some ideas up my sleeve that I’m hoping will make it feel a little roomier. (click here for more kitchen details)

Since we’re removing the old carpet and go with all new solid wood floors, we’ve decided to demo the powder room as well. Remember my design mistakes post? I’ve learned my lesson to embrace the opportunity to get something done right when you have the chance! I’m on the fence but pretty sure we’re going with white penny tile floors and a black vanity.

We literally started tearing things apart less than 24 hours from closing, which has made for a crazy remodel adventure. I’m trying really hard to really appreciate and experience the process. I love taking breaks out on our deck and recently enjoyed the view with my new mug. (I shared the sweet story behind it here). The boys are having fun exploring, building forts, and setting up our mason bee house.
