8 Furniture Ideas to Refresh Your Space
Looking to give your home a fresh look without the hassle of a major renovation? Sometimes, all it takes are a few small upgrades with big impact. I moved into this house last year and my remodel project list gets longer every day. Since I can’t tackle everything at once, I’ve teamed up with Wayfair to update key pieces of furniture for a whole new vibe. Here are eight simple furniture ideas that will make a huge impact on any space.
When looking for big impact furniture, I’ve got my eye out for interesting details, modern shapes, and the ability to add contrast or texture. Luckily, Wayfair has tons of options that check these boxes.
Of course, they have a lot of traditional pieces, but I love grabbing a cup of coffee and browsing their modern options. Here, I’ve rounded up some of my versatile favorites – many I have in my home and others I’ll keep on my wishlist.
- Modern Media Cabinet – light wood and black hardware
- Woven Accent Chair – wood and leather
- Tripod Floor Lamp
- Moroccan Area Rug
- Black Ladder Bookcase
- Wood and Cane Bench
- Wood and Woven Nightstand Table
- Black Textured Table Lamp
1. Update Media Console
Your media console doesn’t have to be boxy and boring. Consider swapping it out for something more modern details.
I opted for a Media Console with textured doors and a modern shape. Plus, the closed cabinet style makes it easier to stash all of our board games!
2. Add High-Contrast Lamps
You know I love some good lighting. Not only is it functional & adds a layered softness, it’s also an opportunity for added contrast.
I opted for this tall black + wood floor lamp and have my eye on textured black lamps which would be perfect on the nightstands in my white room.
3. Incorporate a Stylish Bench
Ok, after adding a bench to my office a few years back, I now can’t stop. A good bench solves so many issues and can work in nearly any room making it one of my favorite furniture ideas.
Place one in your entryway for a welcoming touch, at the foot of your bed for extra seating, or even in the dining area for a casual vibe.
Go for a bench with interesting details to make it a standout piece. It’s a small change that adds both function and style.
4. Fun Accent Chairs
Ok, accent chairs are like the perfect amount of fun plus low commitment. Don’t get me wrong, they’re an important piece of furniture, but unlike the stress of a couch, I think they’re easier to experiment with.
You might not put baby in a corner, but I definitely love an accent chair there! Plus, they’re not just for sitting—they’re for showing off your personality, too!
5. Layer In a Stylish Rug
Ok, maybe not furniture ideas but a rug is pretty much the same as snapping your fingers and getting a magical transformation. A new rug instantly changes a room vibe.
Choose a bold geometric design for a modern touch, or a cozy, plush rug for a more inviting feel. It’s a simple swap that makes a big impact.
6. Add Height with Bookcases
Most rooms could use a little extra height. I love a good ladder style bookshelf in a corner to balance out a room.
Use it to display not just books, but also plants, art, and decor. A fresh bookcase can bring new life to your space and help you stay organized, too.
7. Switch Up Nightstands or Side Tables
Nightstands are more than just a place to stash your phone and water glass. They’re a chance to add some style to your bedroom.
Ditch the basic ones and go for nightstands that have a bit more flair—maybe something with funky hardware, or a cool shape. Even a small change here can make your bedroom feel refreshed.
8. Upgrade Your Headboard
The headboard is a game-changer in the bedroom. If you’re tired of your current setup, swapping out your headboard can give your room a whole new vibe.
Go for something bold, like a plush velvet headboard, or keep it cool and casual with a simple wooden design. It’s a quick way to add personality to your bedroom without much effort.
For contrast, I chose a Black Metal Headboard that adds a classic touch.
