9 Basket Pendant Lights
I’m currently on the hunt for the perfect dining room chandelier to complete our space. After recently choosing a beautiful woven basket light for our entryway, I’ve fallen in love with how a woven shade adds warmth, texture, and natural charm to any room. The organic materials, rich textures, and effortless style create a cozy, inviting vibe that’s hard to resist. As I narrow down my decision, I wanted to share some of my favorite budget-friendly basket pendant lights that offer style without breaking the bank.

{Update: 7.13.24 – The original post included fixtures all under $150. Well, times have changed a bit my friend. While many of these woven lights come in just over one hundred dollars, I’ve updated this list with in stock items and some come in slightly higher. They are still one of my all time favorite home updates though!)
Why Choose Basket Pendant Lights
Basket lights are made with natural materials like rattan, jute, bamboo, and seagrass that bring warmth and an earthy vibe that works with various interior styles, including California Coastal, farmhouse, Scandinavian, and modern minimalist designs.
Where to Use Basket Pendant Lights:
I think woven lights look great just about anywhere! Here are some ideas:
- Above a Dining Room Table: Perfect for adding coziness and softening up dining room – see this California Coastal Dining Room design.
- Grand Foyers & Entryways: Makes a warm, welcoming statement
- Staircases: We installed a basket weave pendant lamp in our staircase, and I absolutely love how it adds dimension and texture.
- Above a Kitchen Island or Bar: Softens that light and adds natural warmth.

More Basket Light Fixture Ideas

In this simple dining room, I chose the wide black basket light fixture. It adds contrast to all the white and the round shape breaks up all those lines. That one is out of stock but this large black woven chandelier is similar.

My friend used the classic IKEA basket pendant in her dining room. As one of her many genius DIYs, she painted the basic shade a bold black to really set off her space!

Choosing the Right Woven Pendant Light:
I’ll be honest—choosing the perfect pendant light can feel overwhelming. With so many styles, shapes, and materials to choose from, it feels like a huge commitment. But trust me, switching out the standard builder-grade fixtures (yes, I’m looking at you, “boob lights”) made such a dramatic difference in our home. It’s an easy update that adds personality and style, making it totally worth the effort.
When selecting your light, consider:
- Shape: Domes, bells, tiered designs, and geometric shapes each create unique vibes.
- Size: Make sure it’s proportionate to the space.
- Material: Natural fibers like rattan, jute, bamboo, and seagrass offer different textures.
- Color: From natural tan to bold black or whitewashed finishes, choose what fits your style

I’m really loving all of these basket pendant lights and really love that they’re pretty affordable! Updating a light is one of my 9 Easy Home Update Under $200 and can really transform any space. While you’re at it, layer light with these Modern Table Lamps I’ve selected to finish things off.
