Style Your Home: Neutral Christmas Decor Ideas
This our first year in this new home and I am so excited to celebrate the holidays here! During the Christmas season, I really try to focus on experiences and making memories. Our home reflects that, I think. I use neutral Christmas decor and fresh greenery. Overall, I go for simple and cozy. So, come on in and check out our holiday home tour!
Neutral Christmas Decor
I’ve always loved a cozy, low key vibe for the holidays. Neutral Christmas decor feels peaceful and calm—just what I want in the middle of all the holiday busyness. For me, neutral decor means using soft, natural tones like whites, creams, brass, and wood. Instead of bold reds or glitter, I stick with soft textures, warm woods, and simple greenery. It still feels festive, just more relaxed and cozy.
Simple decor lets the little things shine like a ceramic tree, a brass bell, or a mug we pull out every year. Neutral pieces also mix easily with what I already have, so I’m not constantly buying new stuff. A fresh branch or candle is often all it takes to make things feel special. Check out how I use these tips around the home:
Entryway Holiday Decorating Ideas
Our little entry way has come a long way in the last 6 months. I like to sprinkle bits of live greenery throughout the house and made a simple Cedar swag for our front doors.
The hunter green pillow is out year round but feels especially festive this time of year (similar hunter green lumbar pillow) especially next to a few bottle brush trees. My son’s cowboy nutcracker is a keepsake I love taking out each year.
Family Room Holiday Decor
Adding bits of green and gold bells makes any space feel festive, right? These little brass bells are one of my favorite pieces each year. I’ve hung them around the house and used them to make other projects, like my Modern Hoop Wreath DIY – a favorite piece of handmade decor!
Simple Christmas Kitchen Styling
One of my favorite aspects of open shelving is being able to change them up! I added more sprigs of greenery along with some simple white ceramic Christmas trees. We always have fruit in our house (at least, if I’m on top of it) and I love how pears and apples add a natural pop of color.
I made a tiny cedar wreath with remaining branches and added it to the cabinets for a little bit extra. Craft wire comes in handy this time of year!
Living Room Christmas Decor
Little branches in vintage bottles is my absolute favorite way to add natural, neutral Christmas decor. It’s so simple, easy, and inexpensive.
I cut these from Yew and Fir trees around our property. If I didn’t have readily available branches to cut, I’d check out Christmas tree lots which often have extra branches or trade neighbors cookies for a few trimmings.
Christmas Decor Around the House
And, of course, little twinkly lights adds that warm glow to just about anything. Even my snake plant got a little festive here! (These wire fairy lights are my absolute favorite!)
Single little branch in a monochrome vase adds a festive touch!
Here’s more live greenery! Simple items, like this candle and natural wood beads look pretty all year long, but put all together with fresh branches take on a more festive vibe. The black and white table runner also looks fab year round and adds a classic holiday touch. I’m a big fan of using what you’ve already got!
Final Thought on Neutral Christmas Decor
I hope this post gives you ideas and inspiration for neutral Christmas decor to style your home. By focusing on natural elements and neutral colors, our spaces feel more intentional and cozy. It doesn’t have to be over the top to feel special—sometimes the simplest touches make the biggest impact. I’m all about creating a space that feels calm, meaningful, and actually lived in during the holidays.
