Are muted green paint colors the new gray or beige? It’s true millennial gray hit hard – from floors to wall colors and furniture. Then along came the beige. So neutral, so bland. I think there are probably a lot of social reasons we saw this in home design, but there’s definitely a pull towards more earthy shades. From forest green to drab olive, I’m seeing a lot more greens on walls, cabinets, and home exteriors. Let’s look at some of the best muted green paint colors out there along with tips for using them.

What is Muted Green Paint?

First off, you might be wondering, “what are muted green paint colors?” Well, unlike a bright, crisp green that has a lot of clarity with yellow or blue undertones, muted colors will have gray or brown undertones added. This creates a softer, richer, more subdued color.

The result feels earthy and natural. These subdued shades feel more classic and are easier to use with existing wall paint. Because they don’t have strong undertones, muted paints feel like a neutral color.

How to Use Muted Green Paint Colors

I love using muted green paint colors on bathroom and kitchen cabinets. It’s classic but with more interest than white cabinets. In my recent bathroom makeover, I used Forest Floor for the bathroom vanity update. This type of green color also works well for accent walls and furniture.
