6 Tried and True Neutral Rugs Proven for Every Space

If you’re looking to take a space to the next level, a good rug might be just the thing you need! Admittedly, for many years, I completely underestimated the power of a rug. Not only do they serve a practical purpose by protecting floors, they all define a space meaning that the furniture feels more grounded and not just floating around. After trying out several options, I’ve rounded up some of my tried and true neutral rugs!

Neutral Rugs in My Home

1. Entryway Rug

Living out in the country with two boys means my entryway gets a lot of wear and tear! For this space, I chose a thick and durable jute rug to hold up to all we throw its way. This particular rug is often out of stock, so this Gray Jute Rug would be my next choice!

2. Bedroom Area Rug

I chose this soft, boho style rug last year as part of an overall refresh and it’s one of my all time favorites! It’s a really nice shade of off-white with a large geometric print and tassels to add some extra texture (I use tassels in areas with less traffic…).

3. Family Room Rug

This room is small but mighty! This is our cuddle area, hangout zone, and movie night spot. So, I needed a rug that could handle it all. I chose a low pile (meaning, flat) Moroccan style rug, making it easier to vacuum and a lot of pattern to hide stains.

4. Accent Rug

Can you have too many accent rugs? It seems like there is always a new space that needs a little rug! I love this Woven Accent Rug for all the texture and contrast – it’s used here in the door leading to our garage.

Because woven rugs often slide a lot, I use a pad to keep it safe. This felt rug pad is a favorite!

5. Living Room Rug

When rug shopping for this space, I had a few boxes I needed to check off – big, thick, soft, neutral, and geometric. This area rug checks them all! Because we use this space for games, reading, and hosting company, I wanted something that felt really cozy and I think this does it!

(ps. it’s more of an ivory color but definitely a lot less yellow than the listing image!)

6. Patio Outdoor Rug

Last year, I refreshed our covered deck area and chose this Geometric Outdoor Rug for durability and contrast. I actually love this rug so much, I would consider using this indoors in an area like our dining room or playroom where an easy to clean rug would come in handy!
